Euro Cup 2012 Kicks off Tomorrow !
Warsaw; 7th June 2012:
The 14th UEFA European Football Championship will begin tomorrow in Warsaw, and will continue through July 01. It is the first time that both Poland and the Ukraine will be hosting the event.
Sixteen nations will show their skills in hopes of winning the prestigious championship title. Having won the Euro Cup in 2008, Spain, the defending champion, was also victorious in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals held in the Netherlands. With these games, they will be competing to win an unprecedented third consecutive major tournament.
Eight cities will host venues to the matches, including Warsaw, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Poznań, Kiev, Lviv, Donetsk and Kharkiv. The Olympic Stadium in Kiev is the largest, accomodating 60,000 football fans. The ticket sales for the venue began in May, with 1.4 million tickets already purchased.
The winner of the tournament will be determined after 31 matches. The 16 final teams are divided into four groups - A,B,C and D - with each comprised of four teams each. The top two teams will proceed to the quarter finals, whereas the bottom two teams will make their way back to home.
The four groups for the tournament are as follows:

Two matches will be contested on the first day where Poland will go against Greece in Match 1, and Russia go against Czech Republic in Match 2. The winner of the tournament will be determined on 1st July in the Euro 2012 final at the Olympic Stadium, in Kiev.
