Premiership: It's All Over Now
The 2010-2011 Premiership season is all over now and it has been quite a fantastic campaign. This has been an interesting season in which we have seen Man City challenge the usual top four and cement their place in next seasons Champions League and we have all been amazed at Blackpools approach to life in the premiership.
Man Utd took the title a week earlier than the seasons end with a draw at Blackburn and they are now the top flight football title record holders with a very impressive 19 wins to their name.On the last day of the season Man Utd beat Blackpool 4-2 at Old Trafford which meant that Blackpool now face life in the Championship next season, shame really.Credit goes to Alex Ferguson and all that he has done in his time at the club.Next week they face Barcelona in the Champions League Final at Wembley and are looking to complete the double. What a great end to the season that would be for the club.
The London clubs of Arsenal,Chelsea and Tottenham who were all tipped for a great campaign ended the season in fourth, second and fifth respectively. They will be busy in the transfer market in the summer break, you can be sure of that.
Liverpool ended the season in sixth place, one place above local rivals Everton, after an abysmal start which saw them languishing in the lower echelons of the league table. To be fair to Kenny Dalglish,he has done a great job in turning them around and they will be a force next season.
Relegation to the Championship must be every players worst dream but someone has to go and this season West Ham were relegated with one game still to go.They have had a poor season but I think they will come back to the Premiership sooner rather than later. The two other team to be relegated were Blackpool and Carling Cup winners Birmingham City.I think that the premiership will miss Blackpool and their style of play and will also miss their outspoken manager Ian Holloway. He has been a breath of fresh air with his post-match comments.Continued on the next page
