Will Scott Walker Usher a Romney Victory?
So what really happened in Wisconsin? Now that the dusts has settled, all the analysis has been carried out and the pundits have spoken—who really won in Wisconsin? In my opinion, it is a Democratic win despite Walker victory, since with the change of Senate majority in the hands of the Democrats, Scott's wings have been clipped, and his future days are troubled. In the most expensive gubernatorial election where sky was limit for big money, Scott Walker victory was not unfathomable!
As early as on January 4, in an article called, Iowa Bolsters Romney I had predicted that Romney would be the GOP nominee to contest Obama in 2012 presidential election. Then on January 11, even before the GOP nomination really got heated up, I had reiterated that Mitt Romney would be the 2012 nominee . With the backdrop of Newt’s temporary resurgence that had perplexed the pundits, I had written the following:
What a difference a few days make! On the morning following the Jan. 21 South Carolina (SC) GOP primary, radio commentator Bill Press had said, “It would be very difficult to stop Gingrich’s progress from this point on.” Even Tom Hartmann had said “Gingrich has the momentum now.” And this morning Bill Press said, “There is no doubt that the former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is going to be the GOP nominee.” He had based his prediction on the result of Florida’s Republican primary, where Romney aced Gingrich by nearly 15% vote. I am not sure why the big guns failed to realize that we did not need to read much in South Carolina’s result, since Romney’s nomination was never in doubt in my mind, and here are my reasons.
And what were my reasons by the way? In the same article I had written, “Pundits say negative ads only work to a certain extent, I do not agree with this, I say money wins election, especially in a large state such as Florida. If seven to one is not good enough, eight to one will do it, if not, then nine to one—as the old adage says, there is a price for everything.” Scot Walker spent over $33M in WI election over his opponents paltry $4M plus sum—what did you expect people?
