If I could suggest one person to Time for the next 100 most influential people 2011, that person would be the beautiful Summer Rayne Oakes.

I met her, virtually, years ago. I knew her for her modelling work, but only lately I had the opportunity to know about her commitment for environment.

This is what you can read in her website: “I began modeling in 2001 with the idea that I would align myself with companies, brands, programs and projects that share my values. It was an idea that came to me as I was knee-deep in my environmental studies at college. I set out on the journey and it began to flourish. The idea of exclusively working with brands that are aligned with a more environmental mission was unique. The press began referring to me as, The World’s First Eco-Model, and like most nicknames – it stuck.”

Sum wrote a book “Style, Naturally. the savvy shopping guide to sustainable fashion and beauty”. It's a great book but I do ask, why must you have this book? Well, simply put, it's full of tips and ideas for shopping in a sustainable way — something we cannot avoid anymore.

I have been impressed by the topic of solar bags and it has convinced me to get one as soon as possible. And, another thing that I didn't know by way of this book is that now is the time for shopping for vintage clothes on the Internet or elsewhere. Summer goes to great length to teach us “how to buy vintage," and provides a slew several retail address and websites.

Her latest project is Source4Style, a B2B website. Recently, I sat down with her to talk about her new venture:

Sum, What is Source4Style?

"Source4Style is a business-to-business online marketplace that allows designers and retail sourcing specialists to search, compare and purchase more sustainable materials from a global network of suppliers at the click of a button. We're currently testing out the platform in private beta and focusing on how to unite a fragmented market and revolutionize materials buying online with both practical and cutting-edge technology tools. We're currently in stealth mode working with a select group of suppliers and designers and gathering market data on our platform functionality and design.
